Who We Are

The Tlholego community consists of about 20 adults and children in six extended families who have lived and worked in the Tlholego area for the past three decades. They are representative of the Sotho/Tswana peoples who are indigenous to this region. The heart of Tlholego is its people, and one of the most significant achievements of the TDP is the ongoing development of skills for each resident to ensure a better future. Below is a brief introduction to the people of Tlholego, grouped by immediate family, with a link to a skills table that explains how each person is adding value to the human capital of this project:

Hi, I am Kentse Mokgokolo. I am married to Fanki and we have a daughter, Basadi. I was born in 1963 and come from Tlhabane, a township just outside of Rustenburg in the North West. I am the person you will most likely meet first when you arrive at Tlholego. I have been here since 1991, which was the beginning of the project, and I will really enjoy taking you on a tour to show you what we have created in the last ten years. I love to dance and sing, so please remember to bring musical instruments that you play and music from your country so we can all share ourselves around the fire. (My skills profile.)

Hi, I am Fanki Mokgokolo (pictured at right, with Kentse). I was born in 1957 and come from Attridgeville, a township situated outside of Pretoria. My role has been to search for global models that can be implemented locally. This has taken me to various institutes around the world, including Findhorn Foundation in Scotland, Esalen Institute in California, and Crystal Waters in Australia. As an Ashoka fellow I have been able to draw upon a vast global resource base and integrate best practices into the development and refinement of this model.  (My skills profile.)
